Christoph displayed an enormous enthusiasm for riding from an early age (in truth, Christoph is enormously enthusiastic, full stop). He studied at a number of competition barns then undertook advanced training in Warendorf. He trained with Siegfried ‘Bimbo’ Peilicke and qualified as a riding instructor.

He completed his studies with a degree in education (and was also German University Showjumping Champion in 1977).

Since 1978, he has worked for the German National Equestrian Federation and for the German Olympic Committee.

He is an international FEI judge for eventing and dressage and conducts seminars and clinics throughout the world.
