Kelly Layne has withdrawn Udon P from the deciding Dressage selection event for the Australian Team for Rio, at Rotterdam.
Kelly, who rode at the 2006 WEG for Australia, is now based in Wellington, Florida. She was ranked third in the standings after Odense, the first of two selection competitions. She told Kenneth Braddick at dressage-news.com that she made the decision to withdraw Udon P after an old splint injury became aggravated causing swelling and it was painful when touched.
“He was working on it without a problem but I could not in good conscience ride a competition.” she said. “I said to myself if I was at home I certainly would not compete him this week and this should not be any different.”
