Who's Who
Hughes, Fiona
Discipline : Eventing
Born : 1961
I began riding at the age of seven on my pony, Princey. My second horse, Thumbs Up, was an untried racehorse, my father purchased as a two year – he went on to be my first advanced eventer. At the age of 23 I spent some time training as a working student with Heath and Rozzie Ryan at the NSW Equestrian Centre, Lochinvar. This became the turning point in my career as it was here that I first felt anything remotely like dressage. Heath and I argued constantly. Poor Rozzie!
These days I am a level two eventing coach and a coach educator. I’ve produced many three star horses and riders over the years.
A new passion has evolved of late, having commentated at a couple of Adelaide, Sydney and Queensland three day events, I’ve enjoyed talking about the sport I love, and one day I hope I get the call up for an overseas gig.
