The World Breeding Federation of Sport Horses (WBFSH) has published the annual stud book rankings with regard to past season’s successful competition horses at international level, with the association of the breeders of the Holsteiner horse sitting on second place in eventing, third place in show jumping and tenth place in dressage.

Eventing: Second Place
The eventing ranking factors in a total of 60 studbooks or breed societies recognized by the WBFSH, with points collected by the six best horses of each studbook and is headed by the Stud Book du Cheval Selle Français (SBSF) by a narrow lead. While on fifth place in 2020, the top horses from the land between the seas are now on silver positon in the high-profile ranking. The horses instrumental to this success include Olympic champion London (LauraCollett/GBR) by Landos-Quinar (Ocke Riewerts, Alkersum), mare family 3200, and newly crowned individual and team European champion JL Dublin (Nicola Wilson/GBR) by Diarado- Canto (Volker Götsche-Götze, Groß Buchwald), mare family 1907. European silver medallist fischerWild Wave (Michael Jung/GER) by Water Dance/TB-Acobat II (ZG Marks/Muffels, Sommerland), mare family 6879, successful 5*-level competitor Carjatan S (Christoph Wahler/GER) by Clearway-Galant vert/TB (Carl-Friedrich Söhrmann, Groß Buchwald), mare family 6788, Casino (Dirk Schrade/GER) by Casillas-Claudio (Behrend Jacobs, Ostenfeld), mare family 1020 and Cartania (Felix Vogg/SUI) by Cartani-Clinton (Günter Koch, Vollerwiek), mare family 2895, were also among those scoring valuable points for the ranking. Decorated with Olympic gold, London heads the individual ranking of the eventing horses as well. Moreover, he has brought his breeder Ocke Riewerts the top position in the breeder ranking.

Show Jumping: Third Place
While the horses with Holsteiner registration papers had still been on eighth position on the
WBFSH jumping studbook ranking in the Covid year of 2020, they climbed to bronze position in the 2021 season (up to 30 September 2021), with only the Belgisch Warmbloedpaard (BWP) and Selle Français (SBSF) collecting more points. The team silver medallist of the Riesenbeck Europeans, C Vier (David Will/GER) by Cardento-Concorde (Wilma Wolters, Groningen), mare family 8818, very much contributed to this result, same as Quel Homme de Hus (Jérôme Guéry/BEL) by Quidam de Revel-Candillo (Dr. Andreas Kosicki, Berlin), mare family 4847, with achievements including an Olympic team bronze medal. In addition to that, the recent international top placings achieved by Con Quidam RB (Sanne Thijssen/NED) by Quinar-Cardino (ZG Bröcking, Borken), mare family 1446, Confu (Laura Kraut/USA) by Contact Me-Cambridge (Kai Gerken, Lasbek), mare family 4705, Cochello (Piergiorgio Bucci/ITA) by Casall-Cartani (Reimer Detlef Hennings, Bendorf), mare family 1298, and Bardolina (Maria Deslauriers/CAN) by Clarimo-Landos (Ute Jürgensen, Sehestedt), mare family 671, have had an impact on the ranking.

Dressage: Place Ten
Even though the breeding of dressage horses is not one of the Holsteiner Verband core competencies, they take a respectable tenth place on the WBFSH ranking, not least because of the achievements of Olympic reserve and team European champion Annabelle (Helen Langehanenberg/GER) by Conteur-Linaro (Günther Fielmann, Schierensee), mare family 776.
A starter for Austria at the Olympics as well as Europeans was Te Quiero SFI (Christian
Schumach) by Totilas-Loutano (Hans Reisinger, Wolnzach), mare family 5302. The six horses involved in the ranking also include Curiosity (Antonia Ramel/SWE) by Clinsmann-Carpaccio (Kurt Thomsen, Bunsoh), mare family 5964, Coco Chanel H.S. (Alexandra Eiband/GER) by Lorentin I-Lucky Lionell (Heinrich Sommer, Kirchdorf/Inn), mare family 241, Al Martino (Joanne Vaughan/GEO) by Almoretto-Lorentin I (Witt Pferdezucht GbR, Wellinghusen), mare family 2067, as well as Devanto (Tinne Vilhelmson Silfvén/SWE) by De Chirico-Lorentin I (Holger Wesselmann, Kellinghusen), mare family 49. Last year, the Holsteiner Verband had been on place 13 of the dressage ranking.
Now these are the best Holsteiners according to the WBFSH ranking – and quite a few of
them have started their career at a Holsteiner auction: team European champion JL Dublin, the winner of the Olympic test event and team European silver medallist, fischerWild Wave, same as Cartania, successful championship contender at 4*-level, had their first big day at the Neumünster Holstenhalls. Very soon, the 51th stallion grading and elite riding horse auction held on 28-30 October is to showcase other bright talents being put through their paces in the arena.
