Malcolm Barns was one Australian rider who realized that travel to Europe was absolutely essential if his understanding of the Equestrian Art was to progress. Malcolm studied in England and in Germany - and took the (at that stage) unthinkable gamble of shipping his Thoroughbred stallion, Hawa Mahal over with him. ‘Aubery’ performed with distinction in Europe, and returned to Australia where he sired many very good dressage horses, and died only recently. IAHP November Rider of the Month

Mary Warren had the weekend of her life at this year’s Australian Dressage Championships. Successfully competing her eight year old Mindarah Park Raphael in the FEI Young Rider CDI-Y classes, she went on to pleasantly shock us all by winning the Saturday night Willinga Park Grand Prix CDI-W Freestyle with a score of 71% on her 13 year old stallion (and Raphael’s Dad) Mindarah Park Ramadan.
