Lisa was raised on a cattle ranch with six brothers and sisters, where working with animals and riding horses was a daily way of life.
In 1994 she took her horse, Funny Boy, to Germany for four months to train with Herbert Rehbein,. She returned to Europe again in 1995, working at a stud farm in Denmark for six months, and then at a stud farm in Germany for two years. Then in 1997 she was offered a job at Gestüt Vorwerk, an Oldenburg stud farm, under the tutelage of Spanish Riding School rider and trainer, Ernst Hoyos.
With Ernst’s help, Lisa was the first US rider to break into the top ten of the FEI BCM world dressage rankings. Riding the stallion, Relevant, she was 5th at the WEG in Jerez in 2002, 2nd at the European Championships in Hickstead in 2003, and also rode at the Olympic Games in Athens.
Lisa returned to the US in 2006.
